Senior DEI Manager, Talent Acquisition

Purpose of role: The Senior DEI Manager, Talent Acquisition plays a key role in advancing Sonova’s talent acquisition agenda and results for sourcing and hiring diverse talent in support of our goal to employ a high performing, diverse and equitable workforce. This position will work across our three North American businesses and will be responsible for partnering with leaders and key stakeholders to create and implement business-aligned DEI talent acquisition strategies that yield measurable results. The Senior DEI Manager, Talent Acquisition will courageously identify existing barriers to achieve our DEI goals and put concrete plans in place to take steps forward.

Working from our U.S. headquarters in Aurora, Illinois, and reporting to the Director, Sales Operations & Analytics, you will be accountable for several intriguing responsibilities, so your days will be varied. Main Tasks and Responsibities:

  • Works collaboratively with local talent acquisition teams to design, develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies that are focused on building a diverse, inclusive and equitable workforce
  • Create and sustain relationships with key educational institutions, professional associations, diversity organizations, individuals, and community organizations to support DEI initiatives and goals
  • Leverage external partnerships to develop and implement DEI best practices, coaching talent acquisition and HR partners as well as business leaders and hiring managers on these best practices and driving accountability
  • Continually grow a pipeline of qualified diverse candidates and build talent communities through constant networking, mining, and managing of candidates and referrals; analyze results and adapt strategy accordingly
  • Track, analyze, and use key DEI metrics to drive performance improvement in the recruitment and retention processes, preparing reports and summarizing findings; Support HR partners on achieving AAP goals
  • Partners with key leaders to develop and implement short- and long-term recruiting objectives and strategies to attract and hire diverse talent within the businesses
  • Leverage and partner with both internal and external stakeholders to build a diverse candidate pipeline for targeted roles
  • Establish inclusive and comprehensive job requirements, job descriptions and job ads  
  • Create relevant sourcing lists and market mappings to build identify and build talent pools
  • Lead the development and execution of external surveys (i.e., Military Friendly, Disability Equality Index)
  • Participate and engage in D&I targeted career fairs, hiring events, and workshops that will yield diverse applicant pools
  • Further develop our systems and defining methodologies to efficiently and effectively search for internal and external talent
  • Serve as a spokesperson and subject matter expert on DEI topics, member of the Americas D&I Council
  • Follow all country laws, rules and regulations
  • Follow all Sonova policies and procedures
  • Other projects as assigned
  • Travel up to 10%



Education and Skillset:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required, or equivalent. MBA preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in recruitment and building networks of diversity hires
  • Previous HR Business Partner experience or executive recruiting experience preferred
  • Strong foundation in DEI recruiting and a passion for, and experience in, recruiting diverse profiles across gender, ethnic, LGBTQ and other types of diversity
  • Experience in managing relationships with external community, educational and governmental partners
  • Ability to define suitable action plans, manage multiple projects simultaneously, analytical, persistent, following through on action plans designed, ensuring quality of output also under pressure, self-confident
  • Intercultural understanding, ability to interact across all levels of the organization, profound and true interest in people, winning interpersonal style, excellent listening skills
  • Inspiring others, creating followership, informal leadership
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to build strong working relationships across the organization  
  • Experience and familiarity with DEI efforts, Affirmative Action, EEOC, etc.
  • Proven ability to influence when necessary to accomplish tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills; written and spoken, articulate, persuasive, and able to communicate complex matters in a straightforward manner
  • Ability to promptly and accurately assess candidates skill levels, interests and motivations
  • MS Office tools, Social media platforms, recruiting tools and applicant tracking systems
  • SAP Success Factors and ADP experience a bonus
