Acoustic Engineer/Designer
Location: Hannover, Germany
Department: Research & Development – Acoustics
Working within our R&D Acoustics team, you will be at the heart of developing premium audio products that define the Sennheiser sound. You’ll bring together creativity, technical expertise, and passion for acoustics to design and fine-tune headphone systems that deliver exceptional listening experiences.

More about the role:
• Design, build, and evaluate physical prototypes of advanced acoustic systems
• Integrate electro-acoustic components, ensuring system performance and manufacturability
• Conduct and analyze acoustic measurements on components and full assemblies
• Collaborate closely with DSP, control, electrical, and mechanical engineers to tune and optimize sound
• Support prototype and production builds both on-site and remotely, including factory visits
• Work with manufacturing partners to validate and refine acoustic and assembly processes
• Explore emerging technologies and perform feasibility studies to shape future products
More about you:
Essential qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Acoustics, Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on product development experience in acoustics, ideally in consumer or professional audio
• Solid understanding of acoustic principles, analog electronics, and transducer design
• Practical experience with headphone acoustic structures, including enclosure and port design
• Proficiency in acoustic testing and analysis using equipment such as GRAS, B&K, Audio Precision, or Listen Inc.
• Excellent communication skills in English and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset
Preferred qualifications
• Experience with noise cancelling, DSP, and acoustic simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, FEA)
• Familiarity with defining requirements for acoustic components such as drivers, microphones, and meshes
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience in factory support environments
