Hannover, Germany
Internship or Master Thesis - Mechanics and Prototyping, Sennheiser (m/f/d)
Location: Hannover, Germany
Type: Mandatory Internship (Full-time, 6–12 months)
Are you passionate about applying engineering, simulation and problem‑solving skills to real‑world challenges? Join us for a unique internship where your mission will be to objectify the wearing comfort of circumaural headphones.
We offer an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of structural mechanics, human perception, and numerical simulation - and to leave your mark on an impactful, hands-on project.
Using the finite element method (FEM), you will build a model that helps physically describe and predict the comfort experience.
What You Will Do
- Develop virtual numerical models of headphones and wearing scenarios - and then validate them with physical prototypes
- Develop a deep understanding of circumaural headphone design and comfort perception
- Learn and work with ANSYS Mechanical and CATIA V5
- Build a finite element model to simulate the wearing scenario of a headphone
- Validate FEM results using Fujifilm pressure foil or similar measurement solutions
- Perform simulations and tests on design variants to broaden insights into comfort behavior
Your Profile
- You are enrolled in a Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field
- Strong analytical mindset and experience with finite element analysis in structural mechanics
- Knowledge of computer simulation tools (ANSYS preferred, but any FEM software is welcome)
- Self-driven, solution-oriented, and structured in documentation
- Fluent in English OR German
