Product Serviceability Engineer (m/f/d)
We’re looking for a Serviceabililty Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Systems & Electronics Engineering team within R&D for Sennheiser consumer products in Hannover.
This is a brand-new team working closely with project teams to ensure new headphones, soundbars, and speakers are designed with serviceability and repairability in mind.
You’ll join the product development process from day one: defining service requirements, shaping how products can be repaired or refurbished, working with suppliers on test equipment, and ensuring everything is ready before launch.
Your work ends when the product hits the market—giving you the satisfaction of seeing your engineering decisions directly influence products on store shelves.
If you enjoy building processes from scratch, collaborating across functions, and creating equipment and documentation that enable global service teams, this role offers a unique chance to make a lasting impact.
Key responsibilities
- Define serviceability and repairability requirements for new audio products
- Influence product architecture through service-focused design reviews
- Translate service needs into requirements and acceptance criteria in PLM tools
- Plan and execute service verification across EVT/DVT/MVT builds
- Write SOWs, order equipment, and approve test software
- Provide technical content for service manuals, troubleshooting guides, exploded views, and training materials
- Support service readiness and gate approvals with cross-functional teams
Your profile
- 3–5 years in service engineering, NPI, or test engineering in consumer electronics with a focus on designing and validating serviceability
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; basic software knowledge
- Hands-on experience with test instrumentation
- Experience with audio test systems (APx, GRAS/B&K, IEC ear simulators) and/or knowledge of Bluetooth/BLE, Wi‑Fi, USB‑C, DSP/ANC, and mobile app/OTA workflows is an advantage
- Background in consumer audio or similar consumer electronics is a plus
- Fluent English (good German is an advantage)

- A supportive, collaborative culture, flat hierarchies
- A chance to build new processes and shape how serviceability engineering works from the ground up
