Research Engineer - Medical Imaging (m/f/d)

For our Advanced Bionics Research Center in Hannover we search for somebody like you. This role will  support Advanced Bionic’s  implant technology group’s mission to research, develop, and characterize novel designs, tools, materials, and processes for future cochlear internal implant products.

In your role you will responsible for software development of a new medical imaging software, implementation of new features, and setting up related clinical studies.

In this function close interaction with different departments across Sonova and external partners (developers, clinical partners) is required.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Work together with external developers and suppliers for development of a commercial imaging software
  • Design and assess new features for next generation cochlear implant imaging software. Perform software testing according to software testing lifecycle standards. Transfer designs and processes from feasibility (R&T) to product design team (R&D).
  • Analyze in a critical and constructive way software requirements in order to determine potential issues and build specification documents
  • Discuss new clinical study ideas in the field of medical imaging and cochlear implants with the internal project team and with external clinical partners (surgeons, audiologists, radiologists)
  • Support the setup of new studies with clinical partners and provide end-user support including setup, installation, and maintenance
  • Discuss study results with clinical partners and within the project team and  provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and management.
  • Remain at the state of the art of your discipline (scientific papers, …)

 

        What you bring to the table

 

  • BS or MS in computer science or related study background
  • At least 3 years’ experience or profound background in medical imaging. Working experience with Python, C# and Matlab. Experience with standards (DICOM, HL7, JSON) and libraries (VTK/ITK, MONAI) is a plus
  • Experience in testing software on different levels and writing detailed documentation
  • Very good communication skills, assertiveness and ability to dialog with external partners
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion (10-20%)
  • English: excellent written/oral communication skills; fluency in one or more additional European language(s) is a plus
