Benefits Manager

The Manager of Benefits is responsible for the management of the Company’s US benefit plans and programs in accordance with plan documents, insurance contracts, vendor agreements and applicable Federal, state and local regulations

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Benefits team, including coaching and development
  • Responsible for maintaining the market competitiveness of Sonova’s benefits package
  • Key stakeholder in selection of new or modified benefit and leave plans, policies, and programs
  • Project management of on-going Benefits projects, including continuous improvement activities (i.e., Annual Open Enrollment, ACA annual reporting, 401K NDT and audits, etc.)
  • Executes approved new/modified plans and effectively communicates appropriately to US group companies
  • Develop communication tools and documents, such as a Benefits dashboard, to enhance understanding of the Company’s benefit plans and programs
  • Management and oversight of benefit vendors (i.e. brokers, insurance carriers, record-keepers), trustees and other administrative and/or legislative agencies; evaluate and recommend outside business partners based on performance and value
  • Establish and maintain strong partnership with group company HR teams to address benefits’ needs and resolve benefit issues
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, including system documentation
  • Develop and facilitate benefit education sessions for group company HR teams on topics of benefit packages, benefit enrollment and leave of absence administration
  • Operate in compliance with applicable local, state, and Federal laws as well as Company policy and compliance standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Skillset:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required, PHR or SHRMP-CP or CEBS Certification preferred
  • 6+ years of progressive benefits experience
  • 2+ years people management experience
  • Working knowledge of government regulations/filing compliance requirements impacting benefit and leave programs
  • Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Excellent analysis skills and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team
  • Acquisition experience, hearing healthcare and/or multiunit retail industry experience a bonus
  • Advanced Excel skill (VLOOKUP & pivot tables)
  • Knowledge of integrated benefits and HRIS systems, ADP preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
