Equipment Designer  

 

We are seeking a Equipment Designer responsible for the development, design, and implementation of manufacturing and test equipment for Sonova Operations Centers, Regional Centers, Group Companies, Service Sites, and R&D Centers. This role focuses on ensuring high process stability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of maintenance for automated systems and manufacturing tools.  

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing and test equipment based on technology, platform, and product roadmaps. 

  • Improve existing equipment with high failure rates or low yield through design revisions. 

  • Ensure timely mechanical design and verification of new manufacturing equipment. 

  • Manage projects within the Equipment & Tool Design group. 

  • Create and maintain technical documentation in compliance with internal SOPs and guidelines. 

  • Evaluate and select suppliers for equipment development and purchasing. 

 

 More about you:  

  • Several years of experience as a design engineer for manufacturing equipment  

  • 3D-CAD experience, ideally on PTC Creo 

  • College or University degree in mechanical engineering/Technology 

  • Strong Work Ethic: Committed, highly independent, with a precise and structured approach to work, maintaining a strong quality orientation. 

  • Adaptability & Innovation: Ability to stay updated on industry trends, identify future opportunities, and leverage research from various sources. 

  • Customer Focus: Ability to assess underlying customer needs beyond initial requests and identify suitable processes, equipment, or services. 

  • Analytical & Interdisciplinary Thinking: Capable of systematically breaking down complex tasks, analyzing interdependencies, and developing effective solutions. 

 

 

A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova
