Manufacturing Process Developer Co-op

 

Kitchener, Ontario | Primarily Onsite with Possible Remote Days | JUNIOR OR SENIOR YEAR STUDENTS ONLY

 

Join Sonova’s Manufacturing Engineering team as a Manufacturing Process Developer Co-op and gain practical experience developing and optimizing technologies used to manufacture custom in-the-ear hearing products.

 

You will support manufacturing process-engineering projects, design and conduct experiments, evaluate results and contribute to the development of new and improved manufacturing processes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and optimization of manufacturing technologies and processes for custom in-the-ear hearing products.
  • Create and execute test plans for additive manufacturing, surface technologies and joining processes.
  • Perform measurements, analyze test results and document findings in technical test reports.
  • Assist with the evaluation and improvement of manual assembly processes.
  • Create work instructions and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Take ownership of assigned work packages from planning through completion.
  • Operate 3D printers and support practical laboratory and manufacturing testing.
  • Collaborate with partners across Research and Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and Production.
  • Help standardize manufacturing processes across appropriate process platforms.
  • Benchmark, optimize and support the replacement of existing manufacturing technologies and processes, including obsolescence-related activities.
  • Contribute to process-engineering projects and continuous-improvement initiatives.

 

More About You

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Studies in materials science, process engineering, chemistry, physics or microtechnology are especially relevant.
  • Comfortable performing hands-on testing and laboratory work.
  • Able to understand and analyze complex technical concepts.
  • Capable of translating technical findings into practical measures and solutions.
  • Determined, committed and able to work independently.
  • Precise, organized and structured in your approach.
  • Strong interdisciplinary thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confident communicator who works well in collaborative and intercultural teams.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Microsoft Teams.

 

Work Arrangement

This position is based in Kitchener, Ontario and will work primarily onsite due to its hands-on laboratory and manufacturing responsibilities. Occasional remote workdays may be possible depending on project requirements, business needs and manager approval.
