Senior Developer, Electro-Acoustics
📍 Hybrid | Kitchener
We are seeking a Senior Developer, Electro-Acoustics to join our Research & Development team and play a key role in the design and development of next-generation hearing instrument technology.
In this role, you will combine technical expertise with project leadership responsibilities, supporting the research, design, prototyping, and verification of advanced electro-acoustic systems while mentoring junior developers and collaborating across global teams.
What you’ll do
- Lead technical development activities for assigned R&D projects, coordinating responsibilities across team members and reporting project progress to leadership
- Design and evaluate electro-acoustic circuits, power management systems, battery characterization solutions, and flex PCB designs for hearing instruments
- Support hardware integration efforts by mentoring and guiding junior developers and peers
- Verify hearing instrument performance across electro-acoustic, EMC, magnetic, wireless, and audio quality requirements
- Research and analyze competitor products and emerging technologies, preparing engineering reports and recommendations for future product development
- Partner closely with Marketing and Audiology teams to provide technical expertise, specifications, and field support
- Conduct research into electronic and acoustic effects to improve hearing aid performance and user experience
- Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Service teams to support product launches and ongoing improvements
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
- Previous experience in an engineering or product development environment
- Strong understanding of acoustics, analog and digital electronics
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams with diverse technical and professional backgrounds
- Experience mentoring or guiding peers within a technical environment
Nice to have
- PCB design experience
- Programming experience with MATLAB and/or C#
- Familiarity with acoustic modeling
- Passion or interest in audio, music, or audio recording technologies
A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

Pay Range: $91K to $116K
