Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering
We’re seeking a Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, to lead a multi-disciplinary team in developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing technologies, equipment, and processes for Sonova’s Custom products. This includes support for both New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining initiatives. You’ll collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing sites, Supply Chain, and NPI project leaders to deliver outstanding process, product, and service solutions.
Responsibilities:

Lead and develop a team of engineering professionals aligned with our mission and strategic pillars:
Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S): Enhance safety and support sustainability initiatives.

Process Excellence: Reduce risk and variation; improve first and last pass yields.
-
Delivery: Ensure reliable and continuous supply.
-
Financials: Drive efficiency and effectiveness in engineering processes.
-
Innovation: Implement automation, digitalization, and capability improvements.
-
People: Build a high performing, engaged, and diverse team; develop internal talent.

Oversee development of manufacturing software and systems.
-
Drive continuous improvement using SonovaX tools.

Lead pre- and post-launch activities including the development of:
-
Test systems
-
Manufacturing equipment and tools
-
Production processes
-
Manage team and project budgets; provide regular updates to senior leadership.

Collaborate with Corporate and Custom Products Manufacturing Engineering teams on cross-functional initiatives.

Maintain and update operational SOPs; represent ME in audits.

Support Mass and Custom Manufacturing, Post-Launch Engineering, and Service functions.

Promote Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Quality (DFQ) principles across teams.

Align closely with R&D, Marketing, and Reliability on long-term strategy.
More about you:
-
Degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Microtechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry).

Additional training in technical/functional leadership, project management, business administration, or lean management preferred.
Professional Experience:
-
Hands-on experience in additive manufacturing, microelectronics, and manufacturing process development.

Proven track record in project and team leadership.
-
Familiarity with Six Sigma, SPC, and related process control methodologies.
Technical & Professional:
-
Strong business acumen in technical environments.
-
Deep understanding of additive manufacturing and related process chains.
-
High attention to quality and detail.
-
Proficiency in tools like MS Office 365, SAP, Minitab, Comsol, Magics (or similar STL file handling software).
Leadership:

Strong project management skills.
-
Ability to coach, guide, and mentor technical teams.
Interpersonal:

Communicative and team-oriented with a high degree of integrity.

Effective in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary environments.
Personal:

Analytical, hands-on, structured, and conceptually strong.

Proactive and independent with a flair for experimental design.
A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova
