Software Requirements Engineer| Contract
As a Software Requirements Engineer at Sonova, you will play a key role in coordinating, creating, and consolidating product development documentation for our regulated medical software. Working within the Software Department, you will collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management and R&D to translate user and business needs into clear, actionable software specifications that help deliver life-changing hearing solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Meet with stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of product requirements
• Liaise with Product Managers to elicit, analyze, and document requirements for software projects including hearing aid firmware, desktop fitting software, and mobile applications
• Coordinate with R&D teams to evaluate technical and timeline feasibility, resolving requirement conflicts as needed
• Translate requirements into unambiguous, testable software specifications for development teams
• Collaborate on process improvements, documentation updates, and cross-functional communication to ensure project success
• Perform additional duties aligned with your skills to support software development outcomes
More about you:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Engineering, Science, or Software field preferred)
• 2–5 years of experience in business analysis or requirements engineering in a technology environment
• Strong analytical, communication, and prioritization skills with excellent attention to detail
• Effective collaborator with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• Experience in regulated software development lifecycles is an asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with requirements management tools such as Polarion is a plus
• Knowledge of software usability principles or IREB CPRE-FL certification is an advantage
This position requires a minimum of 3 days per week in-office attendance at our Kitchener, ON location.
A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova.
