Director, Engineering – NPI & Process Development, Americas

Join Sonova in a pivotal leadership role shaping engineering, new product introduction, process development, and after-sales service across the Americas. As Director, Engineering – NPI & Process Development, Americas, you will lead the development of smart, scalable, and efficient manufacturing and service processes for both new and existing products.

 

You will partner with Operations, R&D, Quality, Commercial, and Finance teams to successfully introduce new products, improve regional service capabilities, and build a high-performing engineering organization that delivers measurable improvements in quality, cost, efficiency, and customer experience.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Americas Engineering, New Product Introduction, and Process Development organization, building a strong and highly capable team.

  • Establish a robust process-development capability and technology roadmap that supports efficient, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing and service operations.

  • Own the successful execution of new product introductions, ensuring products are validated, delivered on time, and prepared for a smooth transition into manufacturing.

  • Partner with R&D and manufacturing teams throughout the design process, including pFMEA and dFMEA activities, to ensure production requirements and process parameters are fully considered.

  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing and after-sales service processes throughout North and South America.

  • Develop and maintain regional governance for service policies, best practices, complaint management, quality improvements, and operational performance.

  • Use operational, financial, and statistical data to improve productivity, resource utilization, product quality, service costs, and overall P&L performance.

 

More about you:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a master’s degree or MBA is preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in operations, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience building high-performing teams and driving cross-functional continuous improvement with measurable P&L results.

  • Demonstrated success leading complex initiatives across Operations, Engineering, Commercial, Quality, and Finance.

  • Strong expertise in project management, manufacturing processes, financial analysis, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics, gain stakeholder alignment, and lead teams through change.

  • Experience in a regulated or medical-device environment, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, and ERP-system proficiency are preferred. Willingness to travel up to 40% is required.
