Head of Data Platform & Cloud Architecture

Join us at Sonova as the new leader for our data platform. As the Director of Data Platform and Cloud Infrastructure, you will drive the strategic direction, development, and management of our platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. 
Your role is crucial in supporting our business objectives and fostering data-driven decision-making company-wide. 

Your responsibilities will include overseeing all Data & Analytics project integration activities, particularly within the Databricks/Azure space, from inception to implementation for Sonova Group and Business Units. 
Additionally, you will lead a talented team of data engineers, architects, and devops professionals.

 

Your tasks:

 

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Define and execute the strategic vision for the data platform, aligning with business goals and objectives
  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable data architectures
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures

 

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data engineers, data architects, and devops
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture

 

Platform Management:

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of data pipelines and infrastructure
  • Ensure data reliability, and security across all data assets
  • Manage data storage solutions, including data lakes, integration to  warehouse, and databases

 

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, product development, and business units to integrate data solutions
  • Communicate data strategies and insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Architect, extract and transforms information from MS D365 systems and other ERP solution

 

Innovation and Improvement:

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data management and analytics
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
  • Drive innovation for the use of advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning

 

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned:

  • Work independently on national and international projects, responsible for analysis of complex business process and translate to data sources
  • Contribute to global Data Architecture decisions and work in consulting functions to the other BI and Data science units
  • Requirements gathering from functional business owners, develop solutions and concepts, orchestrate the implementation with the team
  • Customer Care performing knowledge transfer to client employees from project idea to support post implementation
  • Embed new solutions in existing data governance and authorization concept and ensure compliance with policies and standards

 

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in data management, data engineering, or related roles
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in managing data teams and large-scale data platforms
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture, data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or other programming languages relevant to data management
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Databricks/Azure) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
  • Familiarity with data governance and data security best practices
  • Azure experience with at least full cycle implementations 
  • Extensive experience in project and data management 
  • Experience in mapping and building data system landscapes and data marketing processes 
  • Experience in managing data interfaces as part of a full data pipeline (from sourcing to deployment)
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to drive change and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent English skills (spoken and written)
