Data Steward

The Data Steward ensures that data within assigned business domains is well defined, trusted, documented and fit for use. As a Data Steward, you will work closely with the Data Governance Program Manager, data owners, business users and data teams to apply governance standards, improve data quality, maintain business definitions and support the adoption of cataloguing, metadata and data quality practices

 

In this role, you will be in charge of:

 

  • Act as operational data governance contact for assigned data domains and support the Data Governance Program Manager in implementing governance processes.
  • Define, maintain and align business definitions, data ownership, data quality rules and data standards together with data owners and domain experts.
  • Monitor data quality, identify issues, coordinate root-cause analysis and support remediation with business and technical teams.
  • Maintain metadata, data catalog entries, data dictionaries and lineage information for assigned domains.
  • Support data classification, access control and privacy-related assessments by providing domain knowledge and data context.
  • Contribute to data governance forums by preparing issue summaries, quality insights, proposed standards and decision input.
  • Promote data awareness and data literacy in the business by explaining standards, definitions and governance processes.
  • Partner with BI, analytics, data engineering and business teams to ensure data products use consistent definitions and trusted data sources.

 

Your background:

 

  • 3+ years of experience working with business data, reporting, master data or analytics
  • Experience with data quality, data definitions, business rules or data issue resolution
  • Good understanding of data governance, data quality and data ownership principles
  • Ability to define business rules, data definitions and quality checks with domain experts
  • Working knowledge of reporting, analytics, master data or source system processes
  • Excellent communication skills in English, any other language is a plus
