R&D Intern Battery Engineer

 

We are looking for a motivated Battery Engineering Intern to join our R&D Power Management team. In this role, you will support the development, system integration, and verification of Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries for hearing instruments. You will work hands-on in the battery laboratory, conduct experiments, analyze test data, and contribute to advanced battery modeling and charging strategy optimization.

This internship provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of electrochemistry, modeling, power management, and hardware testing.

 

More about the role

 

  • Assess different charging strategies, including ageing effects of Li-ion batteries used in hearing instruments applications
  • Analyze test data and contribute to the development and refinement of battery lifetime prediction models
  • Perform electrochemical characterization, and (optional) post-mortem analysis
  • Prepare, execute, and analyze cell performance and verification tests (e.g. verification and validation test)
  • Maintain, calibrate, and ensure stable operation of battery test systems and lab equipment
  • Support and expand laboratory tools (e.g. impedance analyzer)
  • Develop, debug, and improve MATLAB/Python scripts for data processing, automation, and reporting
  • Maintain and calibrate battery test systems and ensure stable operation of lab equipment
  • Document results, prepare reports, and support R&D activities

 

More about you

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Strong interest in Li-ion batteries, electrochemistry, and power management
  • Basic proficiency in MATLAB and Python programming
  • Practical, hands-on attitude and ability to work on-site in a laboratory setting
  • Independent, structured, and reliable work style
  • Strong communication skills and team orientation
  • Good spoken and written English
