Senior Industrial Designer

Purpose of this role is to innovate and design exceptional products, such as hearing aids, chargers and accessories and the respective tactile user Interaction, ensuring a superior user experience for both B2C and B2B customers.

 

 

More about the role:

 

  • Lead and execute design Projects concerning the industrial design, usability and the tactile user interaction of hearing aids, chargers, and accessories from conception to implementation. The Designs seamlessly integrate into Sonova’s product portfolio, ensuring outstanding user experiences and enhancing convenience, usability, functionality, wearing comfort and aesthetics addressing customer and consumers. 
  • Lead and create tactile user interaction concepts for hearing aids, chargers, and accessories throughout the user-centered design process. Creating ecosystem-level design concepts that enhance B2B and B2C user experiences by using user flows, leading to intuitive and seamless user experiences and ease of use. Creation of user interface concepts on chargers, addressing user needs.
  • Maintain strong stakeholder management with key business partners, including Product Management, R&D and Strategic Marketing. This includes identifying collaboration opportunities, understanding stakeholder needs and goals, and ensuring hardware and user interaction designs align with broader business objectives.
  • Maintain close collaboration with R&D, Mechanical Design and Hardware Integration to create feasible and viable designs in terms of production, assembly and costs. Delivering designs on time and in quality.
  • Collaborate closely with User- and Market Insights teams to incorporate user feedback into design iterations and validate design concepts based on user research studies that demonstrate user benefits and support and Identify relevant information required to complete design concepts and knowing the sources and actions necessary to obtain the data.
  • Work closely with digital User Interaction Designers to create cohesive tactile user interaction concepts for hardware products that align with the user ensuring, a seamless transition and service between hardware usage and accompanying apps and software.
  • Ensure all design concepts align with design principles and guidelines defined by the Experience Design Team, complying with relevant Sonova SOP and UCD processes. Work efficiently with Product Marketing, R&D, and Product Management teams to gather requirements accurately and translate them into designs for seamless implementation by the engineering team.

 


More about you:

 

  • University degree in industrial design, interaction design, graphics design or similar
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Industrial Design, UX Design, or Interaction Design
  • Experienced in user centered design methodology
  • Understanding Hardware and User Interaction development and implementation
  • Excellent skills in CAD modeling, 2D/3D Graphics and image editing programs experience (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite), Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Creativity, curiosity and open-mindedness with an can-do approach
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive, self-driven and highly motivated professional with high level of accountability 
  • Ability to define and lead own projects involving various stakeholders and communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders and translate between different teams (engineers, product, marketing).
  • Able to plan with multiple timelines and prioritize workload
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English

Nice to have:

  • Experience with medical device industry and or consumer electronics/goods
  • German  or other language is a plus
