Software Engineer (Python)

In our R&D group, we develop hearing solutions and services for hearing impaired people and hearing care professionals in the form of hearing instruments, accessories, web services, mobile applications and PC software. We continuously seek the edge of current technologies to go beyond.
In a multidisciplinary team of audiology experts and software engineers, you will contribute to the further evolution of our audiological design models. These models represent the behavior of our hearing devices and software applications during the fitting process which is required to adapt the hearing devices to the individual needs of hearing-impaired persons. You will be part of our cross-functional and international development teams in an agile development environment allowing you to demonstrate your creativity and programming skills. 

 

Your tasks

 

  • Optimize and extend our Python platform for the functional development of fitting related features
  • Collaborate with audiological engineers and software engineers in driving the platform architecture, with an eye on code quality, automatization, and documentation
  • Contribute to the testing infrastructure and related interfaces between platform specifications and the productive, cross-platform code bases
  • Build and extend on the audiological engineering development tools as part of the platform, and evaluate requirements thereof together with functional audiological development teams
  • Support the audiological model development from architecture perspective
  • Closely collaborate with related development teams on the interfaces to other models and software artifacts (DSP and embedded software, data analytics and the data lake)

 

Your profile

 

  • University degree in computer science 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering and in full-stack application development 
  • Full proficiency in developing a large Python application, including design and architecture, testing, build pipeline, documentation
  • Excellent knowledge of the Python ecosystem, such as tools for code quality assessment, data processing & machine learning libraries, auto-documentation
  • Profound knowledge of software design patterns, and hands-on experience with distributed computing, test-driven development, CI/CD
  • Ideally experienced in serialization frameworks (e.g. protocol buffers) 
  • Knowledge in Rust programming language is an advantage
  • Strong problem-solving and planning skills with high-quality awareness
  • Open minded, excellent communication skills and fluent in written and spoken English, fluency in German is a plus and able to work in a distributed and collaborative environment
