Buyer/ Planner

 

Overview:

 

The Buyer-Planner manages supply for select commodity lines, consisting of raw, semi-finished or finished products and indirect materials. They are responsible for ensuring the best pricing, delivery performance and quality from their suppliers. They support execution of AB’s Master Production Schedule, manage supply and inventory levels to avoid shortages and maximize turns and service. This position reports to the Senior Procurement Manager and is based in Valencia, CA.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Reviews MRP messages along with pertinent business information to generate, adjust and expedite Purchase Orders as well as to create 12-24 months vendor forecasts for assigned commodities.
  • Develops strong supplier relationships and thorough working knowledge of assigned commodities.
  • Collaborates with suppliers and internal customers to provide high level of customer service, optimize inventories, reduce costs, develop, recommend and implement solutions to supply issues.
  • Ensures all purchases comply with the AB Quality System and Supply Chain Policies and Procedures; monitors material revision changes, relevant AP and BOM updates, AVL, Supplier and Quality Agreements.
  • Participates in the development of the daily, weekly and monthly production schedules for Final Pack/ATO area; Creates and releases Work Orders for Final Pack as needed.
  • Monitors and reports KPIs for assigned commodities and vendors, including PPV, supplier scorecards and inventories.
  • Establishes and maintains Purchasing ERP parameters at SKU level such as ROP, safety stock, lead-time, etc.
  • Generates expense purchase orders, ensuring requisitions are complete and vendors are appropriately maintained in the system.
  • As required, supports the Sourcing Manager or Purchasing Manager to identify and evaluate potential vendors, source new materials or services, negotiate prices, develop launch and EOL plans, and update Supplier or Quality Agreements.

 

What you bring to the team:

 

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain or relevant field
     

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years of Procurement and/or relevant Supply Chain experience within a cross-functional environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the Medical Device Industry (Class II or III)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SAP or other ERP systems

  • SAP and PLM knowledge strongly desired
