Operational Buyer/Planner
The Operational Buyer is responsible for managing day-to-day procurement activities within the medical device supply chain, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials required for production. Working closely with the Material Group Manager, the Operational Buyer plays a critical role in maintaining the flow of materials and services that meet the company’s operational and production needs, while ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, procurement operations, inventory control, and supplier relationships in the context of a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage purchase orders from generation through delivery, ensuring alignment with production schedules and material requirements
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance, negotiating terms, and resolving procurement issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Logistics) to forecast material needs and ensure timely availability
- Monitor inventory levels, usage patterns, and lead times to optimize stock levels and reduce material shortages or excess
- Support procurement compliance by ensuring contracts and sourcing activities meet company policies and regulatory standards
- Drive operational efficiency by contributing to cost-saving initiatives, continuous process improvements, and supplier evaluations
- Provide clear, regular communication to internal stakeholders on material availability, supplier performance, and procurement metrics
Travelling Requirement: Less than 10%
More about you:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, SCM or related field
Work Experience
- 3-5 years of Procurement and/or relevant Supply Chain experience within a cross-functional environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the medical device industry (Class II or III)
Professional Competencies
- Knowledge of Procurement and Supply Chain principles and concepts
- Ability to read and interpret product specifications and BOMs
Nice to Have
- CIPS, CPSM
Language(s)/ Level
- English/ Proficient
IT Skills Strong computer skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SAP or other ERP systems
Nice to Have
- SAP and PLM knowledge strongly desired
A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

This role's pay range is between $75,200/yr - $94,000/yr (based on location). This role is also eligible for bonus.
