Research Scientist Physiology

 

What you’ll do:

 

You will develop the capabilities of cochlear implants as sensors of physiological signals. You will exploit these capabilities toward solving complex problems in the clinical management of cochlear implant recipients. You will thrive in an inter-disciplinary team environment comprising researchers, clinicians, and technologists who are passionate about connecting patients to the world of sound by merging novel sensing capabilities of cochlear prosthetic devices with the connected world of today.

 

•       Contribute to a research program on evaluating concepts of how measurements of physiological signals can be integrated into the practice of cochlear implants.

         Develop and maintain prototype hardware and software for recording and processing various physiological potentials.

•        Collaborate with internal partners (rapid prototyping, product development, clinical research, marketing, quality, etc) on the utilization of physiological measurements.

•        Collaborate with external centers to conduct animal and/or human experiments.

•        Prepare technical documents to support communication with diverse internal stakeholders, and where appropriate, prepare manuscripts for publication in the scientific literature.

•        Support development of intellectual property.

5% for visits to clinics, conferences, and external collaborators

 

What you bring to the team:

 

Masters in Bioengineering in the area of bioinstrumentation, followed by 4 years of industry/research experience in a related area

 

Ph.D. and or Post-doctorate in a field of bioengineering, with strong focus on measurement of physiological signals

 

Industry/research experience in bioinstrumentation Previous research experience in cochlear implants

 

Hands-on, action-oriented. Good analytical and experimental work habits. Excellent attention to detail.

Ability to advance initiatives with minimal supervision and while defined ambiguously.

 

Good communication (speaking, listening). Collaborative mindset that welcomes input and contributions from diverse colleagues and adjusts communication to be appropriate for audience.

 

Strong organizational skills and collaborative mindset.

 

Strong knowledge of signal processing techniques as applied to measurement of physiological signals.

 

Strong understanding of data acquisition systems and amplifiers for measurement of physiological signals.

 

Excellent written communication.

Knowledge of auditory physiology.
