Principal Analog IC Design Engineer

What you’ll do:


As a member of the IC design team within R&D, participate in electronic hardware, integrated circuit and system-on-chip development (SoC) including chip architecture, specifications, design, verification, validation, fabrication, packaging, testing, debugging, failure analysis, documentation, and sustaining engineering.  The position demands application of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications of existing Class III Active Implantable Medical Devices.


Design mixed-signal and low-power analog circuits such as Current Mirrors, Bandgap Reference, Operational Amplifiers, Charge pumps and LDOs, Data Converters, ESD protection, Level Shifters, Comparators, RF transmitters and Receivers, etc. 


Perform block-level circuit layout and chip-level integration in a timely manner for tapeout. Knowledge of analog physical design techniques (e.g. Common-centroid, guard banding, shielding, etc.)


Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other design and layout engineers on chip architectural designs, floor planning and pad frame decisions.


Support Electrical team to carry out PCB layout for evaluation boards, test fixtures, and form-factor boards.


Analyze and debug silicon, use test equipment such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum  and logic analyzers. Collect and analyze data to prepare reports. Use scripting languages (preferably Python/MATLAB) to control laboratory instruments and automate the experiments.


Prepare technical reports and presentations that communicate design decisions and measurement results. Present work at formal design reviews.  Work with Electrical, Firmware, Software and Mechanical teams during the product development and system integration phase.


Investigate field product issues, or issues during product development.  Conduct necessary experiments with suitable techniques to get to the root cause of the issues at the shortest possible time.

Professional Competencies

Experience with circuit simulations in worst case process corners, statistical variation, Monte-Carlo simulations; Hands-on experience with Cadence for schematic capture, circuit simulation, and physical design.

Mentor knowledge a plus.

Knowledge of basic digital circuits.  Knowledge of Verilog/VHDL a plus.

Language(s) / Level English communication and written

IT skills         MS Office, Visio

Linux, Altium

Experience in Class-III medical industry can be an asset
