Principal System Architect Engineer

What you’ll do:


Systems Engineering at Advanced Bionics is about understanding requirements, architecting, analyzing through suitable techniques, specifying, conducting feasibility studies and staying involved in the project through the course of integration. Systems engineering is a central role that spans the lifecycle of product development from requirements gathering to manufacturing transfer and post-market technical support although the main focus of this job opening is new product development. In addition to having an area of strong technical competence, the ideal candidate, will also be a good communicator and develop a deep sense of market needs.


Work with R&D, R&T and Marketing groups to understand the future product and market needs. Study current products, its architectures, electrical, firmware, performance aspects involved to identify areas of improvements needed.


Conduct feasibility study on new features and possible approaches of bringing about improvements in future products keeping in mind various tradeoffs. The areas generally include – system level architectures, system partitioning, IC, SoC, digital peripherals, analog, RF, firmware algorithms, system level product performance. The tradeoff considerations generally include – cost, power, product size, ease of usability, engineering cost of development.


Based on the study – Propose solutions that are most attractive solutions for implementing new features and to bring about the improvement through documentation and a reference implementation using a platform/tools that are most appropriate such as  - Matlab, Simulink, C, C++, SystemC, Python, Off-the-shelf rapid prototype infrastructure, FPGA, pSpice schematics, ADS etc.


Work with external SoC partner, internal Firmware, Electrical (IC design, Board level, RF module), PC/Phone App Software, System testing and Mechanical teams during the product development and system integration phase to ensure the proposed components are built and work as expected.


Develop manual and automated tests to evaluate overall SoC/system/product performance, debug system integration or field issues. Use applicable lab instruments such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power meter and programming languages such as Python, C, Matlab.

Professional Competencies  

Strong programming experience of at least 2 years in C, C++, Python programming languages


Strong hands-on experience of at least 2 years in working with Embedded processors (ARM based or other cores), SoC, Standard/Custom SOC peripherals such as I2C, DMA, ADC, DAC, analog, RF  circuits, Receiver/Transmitter architectures.


Strong hands-on experience of at least 2 years in working with lab instrumentation such as: Oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzer, Protocol sniffers, Python lab instrument/testing automation


Good technical documentation and communication skills are very critical for this position.


Capable of working independently with high level input and limited guidance.
