Sr Tech Eng

What you’ll do:


This position is responsible for maintaining and managing the engineering labs including conducting failure analysis for electrical & mechanical medical device packages. This is a hands-on and active role, that will utilize your skills and knowledge to analyze the failed units and to identify the root cause and provide the corrective actions. The environment is fast-paced and requires the application of critical thinking in demanding situations.

•        Test and analyze devices, components, & subassemblies -both legacy and new products.

•        Support root cause failure analysis for production and field component failures.

•        Manage general lab operations including calibration, materials management,  and other routine maintenance.

•        Provide guidance, mentoring and supervision of other technicians working in the lab.

•        Continually prioritize dynamic project work (research and production) and coordinate with team resources to ensure timely execution.

•        Originate and maintain various reports, forms, logs, records, and files in compliance with existing Quality policies.  

Preferred experience in Medical Devices, Class III or other class of regulated environments (Aerospace etc..)


What you bring to the team:


  • AA/AS / Technical degree in Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant technical experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in cross section of BGAs and discrete components on circuit boards. Should have knowledge of the construction of all types of electronic components for failure analysis activity.
  • Working knowledge in collaborating with engineers and other technicians in electrical hardware troubleshooting and testing.
  • Demonstrated skills in X-section/ grinding/polishing machines and diamond saws.
  • 3 or more years of laboratory work experience including sample preparation, optical microscopy and basic nondestructive examinations.
  • Imaging using X-ray, microscopes  and SEM/EDX analysis preferred on all types of components (mechanical & electrical).
  • Knowledge of chemistry lab environment and practices which includes de-potting materials and etching welds.
  • Candidate must also demonstrate good verbal and technical writing skills, work well with a team, deliver under pressure, and well organized
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Windows, Office Outlook, Excel, Word and must be able to communicate with internal customers, provide needed documentation and status updates.



While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Willing to learn and perform routine maintenance on equipment
