Senior Engineer, Research

Advanced Bionics is seeking a Senior Engineer, Research to support the design and development of in-situ neural measurement and brain health monitoring capabilities within cochlear implant systems. This onsite role applies systems engineering expertise across electronics, embedded firmware, signal acquisition, and hardware design to support translational auditory neuroscience, cognitive health research, feasibility studies, prototype development, and future product innovation.

 

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to systems architecture for in-situ neural measurement capabilities within cochlear implant platforms
• Design and implement real-time signal acquisition and processing algorithms on embedded CI platforms
• Apply system-level knowledge across electronics, firmware, IC, RF, power, and hardware interfaces to develop research solutions
• Execute feasibility studies for novel measurement modalities, including cortical evoked potentials, EEG measures, cognitive measures, and health biomarkers through CI telemetry
• Develop research prototypes and support projects from concept through clinical validation
• Collaborate with research scientists, engineers, academic partners, clinical collaborators, and cross-functional teams
• Serve as a technical mentor to lower-level engineers by providing guidance, training, and knowledge transfer

 

More about you:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or a related field required
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or a related field preferred
• 5+ years of direct work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or at least 3 years with a Master’s degree, in systems engineering, embedded systems, or neural signal research
• Experience with analog and digital circuits, embedded firmware, feasibility studies, prototype development, or medical device development
• Strong systems-thinking skills with the ability to work across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for scientific and technical audiences
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, embedded development tools, circuit modeling, C/C++, LabVIEW, or related technical tools preferred

 

Travel: Up to 10%

 

 

 

A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

This role's pay range is between: $100,320 – $144,210 annually  . This role is also commission eligible/bonus eligible.
