Sustainability Controller

In this role, you are a member of the Sustainability Reporting Team (under Corporate Finance) providing external and internal ESG reporting and creating internal transparency on sustainability matters to ensure regulatory compliance, assess risks and opportunities and enable Sonova to drive and control action. The position is responsible for the following activities for a select function or area, or select ESG matters:

 

 

Your tasks:

 

Run the Sustainability Reporting Process

  • Own the reporting process for a select function/area or set of ESG matters
  • Orchestrate the reporting and aggregation process for the function/area or set of ESG matters
  • Ensure timely collection, validation and reporting of data
  • Maintain the relationship with the ESG team and subject matter experts
  • Support the selection, implementation and maintenance of tools for the collection, processing, aggregation and reporting of ESG related data
  • Support the preparation of internal and external ESG reports including the ESG reporting in the Annual Report

Govern the Sustainability Reporting Framework

  • Support the development of ESG measurement and reporting policies and procedures comparable to Group Accounting Policies
  • Ensure strong controls and an assurance culture by driving change to embed internal controls throughout ESG for the function/area or set of ESG matters

Drive Continuous Improvements

  • Regularly review and improve the efficiency and accuracy of the ESG reporting processes
  • Continuously develop and adjust data sets, tools and processes to cope with the development of external regulation in close collaboration with the ESG team

Ensure collaboration and diligence
Contribute to a strong working relationship between the Sustainability Reporting team, the accounting team, the FP&A team, the ESG team, ESG subject matter experts and the functional teams including business and ESG colleagues in the regions and countries
Bring the experience and diligence that the company has developed around financial information and financial reporting to non-financial disclosures

 


Your profile:

 

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance or other business related topic
  • 5 years of working experience in the area of reporting, controlling, finance. Familiarity with operational and financial data, ability to connect different domains
  • 1-2 years of work exposure to corporate sustainability/ESG related topics, data, and reporting.
  • Knowledge in global sustainability standards and framework such as GRI, SASB, UN SDGs, TCFD, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, ISSB is very nice to have
  • Ability to work with unstructured data, with a wide range of data, in an environment of changing and increasing requirements
  • Ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, rigorous approach to tasks, ability to deal with uncertainty
  • Good communication skills (written and spoken), strong collaborator across team and functional boundaries, authentic interest in sustainability and transparency around it, ability to work independently and proactively
  • Strong IT affinity, experience with reporting and/or consolidation tools (e.g. SAP, Cognos Controller, Planon) -  excellent proficiency in Microsoft solutions (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lead a process in a cross-functional environment
  • Proficient in English
  • Nice to have:
  • IFRS, project management, sustainability-related further education
  • Experience with internal and external audit/assurance of financial/non-financial data
