Import- Export Manager
This position is responsible for the foreign trade operations that must be carried out to ensure the supply of raw materials, indirect materials, supplies and fixed assets; as well as the return of the finished product, raw materials, indirect materials and supplies and fixed assets not used in the production process. to ensure, through documentary review and electronic transmission of data, that transactions are carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations in force that govern customs operations in Mexico and USA.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all import/export operations to ensure compliance with Mexican and U.S. customs laws, foreign trade regulations, and internal record retention requirements.
- Supervise daily customs activities, including import/export documentation, invoices, customs clearance processes, and resolution of border or customs-related issues.
- Ensure departmental operations comply with applicable foreign trade laws, customs regulations, free trade agreements, and tariff preference programs, including Annex 24 & 30 requirements.
- Manage relationships with customs brokers, operational managers, and government authorities to ensure adherence to commercial agreements and regulatory obligations.
- Audit and reconcile inventory control systems, customs records, and import/export transactions to identify and correct discrepancies while maintaining compliance.
- Develop continuous improvement initiatives, establish operational objectives, and optimize foreign trade processes while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, oversee USMCA qualification analysis and tariff classifications, respond to customs/FDA requests, and coordinate shipment releases with distribution centers.
More about you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Trade or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a maquiladora or manufacturing environment with import/export operations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional and corporate teams, present new concepts, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and handling hands-on operational responsibilities.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, and preferably SAP or other ERP systems; familiarity with electrical analysis software is a plus.
