Director, Corporate Development and M&A - BP Asia Pacific
About the Role
The Director, Corporate Development & M&A – APAC serves as the regional Corporate Development Business Partner responsible for driving Sonova’s inorganic growth strategy across Asia Pacific.
The role covers the full M&A lifecycle, with a primary focus on:
- Deal Origination (~50%)
- Transaction Execution (~35%)
- Transition Support (~15%)
Acting as the regional M&A lead and "boots on the ground," this individual will identify and cultivate growth opportunities, manage transactions from initial assessment through closing, and support successful post-acquisition transitions. The position requires a highly entrepreneurial and commercially minded M&A professional who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Origination
- Identify, source, and develop acquisition, partnership, and joint venture opportunities across the APAC region.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of strategic targets aligned with Sonova’s growth strategy.
- Conduct strategic fit assessments, market analyses, and opportunity evaluations.
- Develop relationships with regional business leaders, advisors, investment banks, and industry participants to generate proprietary deal flow.
- Act as the regional subject matter expert on market dynamics, competitive landscape, and M&A trends.
- Present pipeline opportunities and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Transaction Execution
- Lead or support M&A transactions end-to-end, including acquisitions, minority investments, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.
- Drive valuation analyses, financial modeling, synergy assessments, and business case development.
- Coordinate due diligence processes across commercial, financial, legal, and operational workstreams.
- Support transaction structuring, negotiations, pricing strategies, and deal tactics.
- Manage relationships with external advisors, investment banks, target management teams, and legal counsel.
- Provide regular transaction updates to Corporate Development leadership and regional stakeholders.
Transition Support
- Partner with business and functional leaders to support integration planning before closing.
- Provide transaction context and strategic rationale to transition teams.
- Monitor early integration progress and identify risks.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of M&A processes and methodologies.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- CPA, CA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification is advantageous.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Corporate Development, M&A, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or a related field.
- Proven track record of originating, evaluating, negotiating, and executing complex transactions across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience with acquisitions, minority investments, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and partnerships.
- Strong business development and relationship management skills with an established network in the APAC region.
- Deep understanding of regional market dynamics and business environments.
- Experience within consumer, healthcare, life sciences, retail, or service-oriented industries is advantageous.
- Prior experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development functions preferred.

- Strong expertise in valuation, financial modeling, transaction structuring, due diligence, and negotiations.

- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with AI-enabled business tools is a plus.

Compensation
- Base salary range, depending on experience: SGD 174,400 – 261,600
