Lead a Project Management team behind Sonova's hearing solutions development

 

At Sonova, we develop innovative hearing care solutions that improve the quality of life for millions of people worldwide.

 

As Director Project Management, you will lead the Project Management team in Stäfa, enabling the successful delivery of complex R&D projects across hardware, embedded software, fitting software, mobile applications, chargers, and accessories.

 

This is a crucial leadership role where you will develop and empower Project Managers, strengthen project management excellence, and partner with senior R&D leaders to bring innovative technologies to market.

  • Lead, coach and empower a high-performing team of Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Drive the successful delivery of complex, cross-functional R&D projects, ensuring alignment on scope, quality, timelines and budget.
  • Partner with senior leaders across global R&D to align priorities, manage cross-project dependencies, and enable effective decision-making across hardware and software development.
  • Drive delivery excellence, performance transparency and the continued advancement of Sonova's project management capabilities and organizational maturity.
  • Lead workforce planning and resource management, ensuring the right capabilities are in place to deliver strategic business priorities.
  • Own and continuously evolve project management standards, SOPs and best practices across hardware and software development, driving consistency and excellence across the team.
  • Ensure compliance with development processes, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a role model for Sonova's leadership culture, inspiring collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement across teams.

 

 

More about you

 

Must have

 

  • Degree in Engineering, Science or another relevant technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering or product development, ideally within the medical device industry or another highly regulated environment.
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex, cross-functional product development projects.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching and developing Project Managers or technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary product development, including hardware, embedded software and software applications.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across a global organization.
  • Strategic and pragmatic leadership style with strong decision-making, problem-solving and change management capabilities.
  • Fluent English.

 

 

Nice to have

 

  • PMP or equivalent Project Management certification and leadership training.
  • Experience within the hearing care or medical device industry.
  • Experience with Planisware, Jira, Confluence or SAP, as well as German and/or French language skills.
