Hardware Integration Engineer (m/f/d)
As Hardware Development Engineer, you will contribute to the development of innovative hearing instrument systems, from early concepts and prototypes through hardware integration, testing and product development.
You will develop product-specific hearing system solutions, integrate electronic and electroacoustic subsystems, define transducers and build prototypes to validate new concepts. Working within interdisciplinary agile R&D teams, you will combine expertise in electrical engineering, acoustics, RF and measurement technologies to develop robust, high-quality solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with sophisticated hearing technology while collaborating with diverse experts across R&D and contributing to innovation, knowledge sharing and intellectual property.
More about the role:
- Develop hardware solutions for hearing instrument systems, translating product requirements into robust electronic and electroacoustic designs.
- Integrate hardware subsystems and define electroacoustic transducers to ensure effective performance of the complete hearing system.
- Design and build hearing system prototypes, including hands-on activities such as soldering, gluing and working with small electronic and mechanical components.
- Define and execute hardware measurements and testing, establishing limits, test criteria and quality characteristics for hearing system hardware.
- Develop software tools for measurement systems to support hardware development, testing and validation activities.
- Contribute to the R&D development process, including planning, reviews and refinement of product increments within interdisciplinary agile development teams.
- Collaborate and share knowledge across R&D, actively participating in team activities and technical communities while supporting onboarding and, when required, the hiring process.
- Contribute to innovation and intellectual property, identifying opportunities for new solutions and supporting the IP process while following relevant development procedures and quality standards.
More about you:
- BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline; additional education or expertise in acoustics or audiology is an advantage.
- Very good knowledge of electrical engineering, acoustics, measurement technologies and RF engineering, combined with experience in electronic hardware and wireless system design.
- Practical experience with PCB design, wireless technologies, electronic measurements and hardware prototyping, including soldering and handling small components.
- Experience developing software for controlling measurement equipment is an advantage, with knowledge of tools and technologies such as MATLAB, Arduino, C# and Python.
- A structured, system-oriented and quality-conscious approach, combined with creativity, technical curiosity and the ability to develop pragmatic solutions to complex engineering challenges.
- Strong self-leadership and accountability, with a proactive approach to learning, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement and transparent collaboration.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to contribute effectively within distributed, interdisciplinary and culturally diverse development teams.
- Very good English and German, both written and spoken; experience with project or functional leadership and tools such as Confluence, Microsoft Teams and MS Office is advantageous.
