Power Management Architect (m/f/d)

We are looking for an Architect Power Management to provide technology leadership and end-to-end architecture ownership for power management across Sonova hearing instruments and chargers. You will define the technology roadmap, architectural principles, and reusable concepts that guide product-level design across platforms and generations.
By translating battery capabilities, charging constraints, thermal and safety boundaries, runtime targets, and future product needs into a coherent architecture, you will ensure consistent system behaviour while enabling Design Owners and development teams to deliver robust product solutions.
More about the role
- Own the Power Management technology roadmap and architecture evolution across hearing instruments and chargers.
- Define the end-to-end architecture, principles, interfaces, and system boundaries required for safe, reliable, efficient, and scalable power-management behaviour.
- Establish reusable concepts and reference architectures that enable consistency and reuse across product families, form factors, and future platform generations.
- Set the architectural direction for BMS and product-level behaviour, including battery-state interpretation, runtime strategy, thermal response, protection, fault handling, telemetry, diagnostics, and hearing-instrument–charger communication.
- Define the product-level application of PMIC capabilities, including power states, sequencing, low-power modes, wake-up behaviour, charging power paths, and energy optimization.
- Translate battery, charging, thermal, safety, and regulatory constraints into architecture requirements, design guardrails, and validation principles for development teams.
- Lead cross-domain architecture alignment and manage technical trade-offs across Battery Cell Technology, SoC/PMIC, Embedded Software, Charging Solutions, System Integration, Safety, Quality, Regulatory, Reliability, Product, and Component teams.
- Act as the technical decision authority for Power Management, ensuring architectural consistency, traceability, and reuse while supporting Design Owners in product-specific implementation decisions.
More about you
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Significant experience in power management, BMS, PMIC applications, charging systems, embedded electronics, or system architecture.
- Strong understanding of rechargeable battery behaviour, protection and charging strategies, thermal constraints, state estimation, runtime optimization, low-power concepts, and safety mechanisms.
- Proven ability to translate component-level capabilities and constraints into end-to-end product architecture and system behaviour.
- Experience working across hardware, firmware, software, battery, charger, safety, quality, regulatory, and product domains.
- Strong systems-thinking skills and the ability to set technical direction, manage complex trade-offs, and make well-founded architectural decisions.
- Confident communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to lead alignment across multiple technical disciplines and represent the domain in architecture reviews.
- Structured, proactive, and ownership-driven approach, combined with fluent spoken and written English.
