Mechanical Design Engineer
Join our Engineering team in Tullamore and help develop the mechanical solutions that enable our products to move successfully from development into production. You will work across new product introductions and ongoing manufacturing, turning engineering challenges into practical, reliable solutions.
More about the role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work closely with Development, NPI and local Engineering teams to design, prototype, validate and industrialize mechanical solutions for our manufacturing environment. Your work will range from supporting new product launches to solving existing production challenges through the development of jigs, fixtures, test hardware and other production aids.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical engineering solutions, jigs, fixtures, production tools and equipment to support new product introductions and existing manufacturing processes.
- Use CAD to create detailed 3D designs and drawings, taking solutions from initial concept through prototyping, validation and introduction into production.
- Develop and evaluate prototypes using 3D printing and other appropriate manufacturing technologies.
- Work closely with Development, NPI, local Engineering, Control & Test Engineering and other functions to deliver effective production solutions, including the integration of electrical components where required.
- Create detailed component and machine specifications, drawings, BOMs and supporting documentation required for manufacturing and industrialization.
- Collaborate with and manage external manufacturers and suppliers, supporting quotation, sourcing and delivery of components and solutions according to project timelines.
- Troubleshoot production and process issues, identify root causes and implement robust engineering solutions while contributing to continuous improvement and process optimization.
More about you
We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who enjoys turning ideas into practical solutions and can take ownership of projects from concept through implementation. You are comfortable working autonomously while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and you can effectively manage priorities between NPI projects and manufacturing improvement activities in a fast-paced environment.
