Location: Valencia, CA (Hybrid role)

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for driving enterprise transformation and execution excellence? We are seeking a Senior Director, Project Management Office (PMO) to lead and evolve our enterprise PMO, ensuring the successful delivery of strategic, operational, regulatory, and transformational initiatives across a global organization.

Reporting to the Vice President, Business Transformation & PMO, this role will serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership, driving portfolio governance, organizational prioritization, resource optimization, and project execution excellence. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of PMO leadership, business transformation, and influencing outcomes within complex, matrixed environments.

What You'll Do

  • Lead enterprise portfolio governance processes, including project prioritization, approval frameworks, portfolio reviews, and executive steering committees.
  • Establish and continuously evolve PMO standards, methodologies, governance practices, and project delivery frameworks that drive consistency and accountability.
  • Provide oversight of critical strategic initiatives, ensuring projects are executed effectively with strong risk management, stakeholder alignment, and predictable outcomes.
  • Develop executive-level reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and portfolio analytics that enable data-driven decision-making and organizational transparency.
  • Lead enterprise resource planning and capacity management processes to optimize prioritization, sequencing, and utilization of organizational resources.
  • Partner with executive leaders to evaluate portfolio performance, identify risks and dependencies, and recommend strategic adjustments to maximize business value.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery capabilities, governance maturity, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing PMO team while coaching project managers and business leaders on best practices in portfolio and project management.
  • Support enterprise transformation initiatives and organizational change efforts that improve business performance and execution excellence.

What You'll Bring

Education

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, Management, or a related field

Preferred

  • MBA or other advanced degree

Certifications

Preferred certifications include:

  • PMP
  • PgMP
  • PMI-ACP
  • Prosci
  • Other project, program, or change management certifications

Experience

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in project management, program management, portfolio management, PMO leadership, or business transformation
  • Proven experience leading enterprise PMO functions within complex, matrixed organizations
  • Experience building and developing PMO teams and project management professionals
  • Demonstrated success implementing governance frameworks, prioritization models, and delivery standards
  • Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives and organizational transformation programs
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management experience

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen
  • Expertise in project, program, and portfolio management methodologies
  • Exceptional leadership, influencing, and relationship-building skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience implementing enterprise portfolio management tools such as OnePlan, Smartsheet, Jira, Planview, or similar platforms
  • Experience within medical device, life sciences, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience leading PMO transformations and enterprise change initiatives

A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

This role's pay range is $175,000 – 240,000. This role is also bonus eligible.
