This is an opportunity to join Boots Hearingcare as a Financial Accountant, supporting the financial integrity, compliance, and reporting requirements across our UK and Republic of Ireland operations. You’ll play a key role in statutory reporting, tax compliance, month-end activities, technical accounting, and continuous improvement initiatives, backed by the stability, investment and innovation of Boots Hearingcare and Sonova.
The environment
You’ll join a collaborative Finance team with exposure to senior stakeholders, Group Finance functions, and cross-functional projects, working within a business focused on growth, transformation and continuous improvement.
The role offers:
- Hybrid working – 3 days in our Llandudno Head Office and 2 days from Home.

The role
As a Financial Accountant, you’ll:
- Prepare annual statutory accounts in line with relevant accounting standards (IFRS & FRS 102)
- Support year-end audits, liaising with external auditors and resolving technical accounting queries
- Ensure compliance with statutory filing deadlines and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and submit UK and ROI VAT returns, supporting tax compliance activities
- Support corporation tax processes, tax provisioning and related reporting requirements
- Lead key areas of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate journals and reconciliations
- Maintain strong balance sheet control through reconciliations, substantiation and documentation
- Prepare technical accounting journals including accruals, prepayments, tax adjustments and provisions
- Produce high-quality financial reporting and insight for senior stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance and financial support to non-finance colleagues
- Identify opportunities to improve controls, reporting processes and automation
- Support finance transformation initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Contribute to acquisition activity, financial due diligence and integration processes where required
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and provide constructive challenge to support better decisions

What we’re looking for
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (part-qualified candidates with strong relevant experience considered)
- Strong experience within financial accounting, statutory reporting and tax
- Comfortable owning month-end processes and reporting to senior stakeholders
- Experience supporting audits and maintaining strong financial controls
- Advanced Excel capability
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Experience identifying efficiencies, automation opportunities and process improvements
- Ability to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders effectively
- Positive, proactive mindset with strong ownership and accountability
